Post-Grad Plans

As a rising senior in college, the topic of post-grad plans is becoming more and more prominent in my life. I can't say I'm upset about that either, as much as I love college, I've been looking forward to my life post-grad for as long as I can remember.

A few weeks ago during one of my Q&A's on Instagram, I got asked a lot of questions about my post-grad plans. While this plan is not definite and everything is subject to change, I wanted to share a little bit about what I'm thinking the future may have in store for myself.

What's your plan for a job post-grad?
Upon graduating next May, I will have a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education and a teaching license that will allow me to teach grades K-5. I like to be transparent and honest on here and I can honestly say that I don't know if I'll be teaching after graduation or not. A lot has changed for me in the last few months and I've discovered some new talents and interests and have been exploring some alternative paths as well. So to answer this question, I really have no idea what kind of job I'll be working post-grad.

Obviously, this is all subject to change and with this being a year out, a lot probably will change with these plans but for now, my plan for next summer is to return to my camp counselor position again for another year. I adore this job (and am SO excited that I'll be able to be a counselor this summer!), it pays well and it keeps me busy when school isn't in session.

I also plan to still be running my Etsy Shop where I sell Lightroom Mobile presets and custom digital illustrations. While this will by no means provide me with enough income to support myself financially, it does provide me with a decent amount of extra income which is always nice.

Are you moving back to Ohio? Staying in South Carolina? Or going somewhere else?
From the day I left Ohio for my freshman year at UofSC I knew I would be returning back to Columbus after graduating. I love Columbus and have so many connections here that it's not even up for debate about whether or not I'll be moving home. I love South Carolina but so much of my life is rooted here in Ohio and my entire family is here so you will find me back here after graduation.

What are your living arrangement plans?
A very good question. This is definitely one part of my post-grad plan that is very up in the air and is not one of my main concerns at this point in time. Ideally, I would love to live in an apartment here in Columbus and have done some brief searching with my best friend from home, Lauren, who is also going to be a teacher and will be moving back home after graduating, but for now, we're more focused on finishing up our degrees and will worry about finding a place to live later on down the road. If I don't end up finding an apartment to live in, I'll likely just live at home with my parents to save some money and figure things out before I decide to move out on my own.

Will you keep blogging?
Absolutely! This blog has followed me through high school, college, and I'm so excited to see how it will shift once I'm not a student anymore but actually a real adult in the real world. Blogging has provided me with incredible connections and opportunities and a lot of my post-grad plans wouldn't be what they are without blogging. So yes, don't worry, Northern Prepster will still be here!

xoxo,
