Exploring Clemson University

It's here, it's here! The long awaited Clemson vlog is finally here!

I visited Clemson University back in July and while I was there I vlogged for y'all. I never got around to posting it (obviously) and while I was on an Instagram Live Stream this past Wednesday, I got a lot of requests from y'all to post the vlog so here it is!

Being that this is the first vlog I've ever made, let alone the first video I've made for Northern Prepster, the editing & the camera handling are not perfect but I do think it's not bad for a first time vlogger!

I hope y'all enjoy the video & if you'd like to see more vlogs please let me know, I would be happy to share occasional videos with y'all!

Fall Playlist

As the weather gets colder I spend a lot more time lounging around my house browsing Pinterest or doing homework. I'd say a solid 75% of the time I have my Spotify playing with my current playlist. While I will admit that I have already starting creating my Christmas playlist, (I know, I know, it's not even Thanksgiving yet) I do have a fall playlist which is what you can find me listening to on my ways to and from school and while working on homework in the evenings.

Moscato & Monograms

Before I get into this post, a very big THANK YOU to Moscato & Monograms for generously sending me a few of their products to share with y'all!

I've been on the lookout for a fun blanket scarf for a few years now so you can imagine my excitement when I opened my package from Moscato & Monograms and saw this gorgeous blanket scarf! I was even more ecstatic to see this ADORABLE navy monogrammed purse (& a darling navy beanie that you'll be seeing once I begin my holiday posts!)

Moscato & Monograms is my go-to company when I'm in need of a cute, high-quality personalized gift for my friends and family. I already know I'll be gifting some Moscato & Monograms this holiday season!

My Skin Care Routine

Breakouts are easily one of the most frustrating and annoying things. One major cause of breakouts is stress and being a senior in high school has a lot of stress that comes along with it. Before I really began to implement a consistent skin care routine, there were nights when I had SO much work to do that I would simply skip over washing my face and rather just use a makeup remover wipe to remove my makeup and leave it at that. Not only was stress causing my breakouts, it was also causing me to forget the importance of a consistent skin care routine.

Once I developed a daily skin care routine, I noticed that my complexion was so much clearer. Yes, I still experience small breakouts every once in a while but they never last for more than two days because I'm so adamant about sticking to my routine.

Along with keeping a consistent skin care routine, I've also been trying to be more aware of the food I'm eating and the amount of water I'm drinking. I mentioned in my latest Friday Favorites post that I've been drinking a lot of lemon water recently. Water does wonders for your complexion and personally, I'm more likely to drink water if there's lemon it in because I love the taste.

face wash // face moisturizer

Every morning immediately after waking up I head over to my bathroom where I wash my face using the soap shown in the photo above. After I wash my face I pat my face dry with a towel and then apply the moisturizer shown in the photo above.  Then at the end of the day I'll remove my makeup with a makeup remover wipe and then wash my face again with the soap shown in the picture above.

The soap & moisturizer I use are formulated for acne-prone & oily skin. I always worry that moisturizers will just make my skin appear even more oily but this one doesn't! Added bonus that it has SPF 30!

Friday Favorites

Long time, no Friday Favorites post! It finally looks like the fall weather is here to stay & I'm super excited to finally get to bring out all of my boots & vests! Surprisingly, this week at school was actually very low-stress (shocking, right?). Perhaps it was because we had Tuesday off for Election Day since my school is a polling site or because I only had two major tests and one presentation to give this week. Whatever it was that resulted in this low-stress week, the stressed out senior that I am is thanking it.

Flannels
I wore this flannel from Old Navy this past weekend when we went out to take our Christmas card photo for this year. Not only are the colors in the flannel beautiful but the shirt is so soft and can be styled so many different ways!

Lorac Pro 3 Eyeshadow Palette
I picked up this eyeshadow palette from Ulta last weekend & oh my goodness am I obsessed with it! The colors are gorgeous neutrals and the palette includes 8 matte shadows and 8 shimmery shadows. I'm not one to go for a bold eye so this palette and the simple neutrals are perfect for me!

Heels
If you follow me on Instagram (@northprepster) then you've probably seen me post a few photos of these heels. I wore these black heels to my senior homecoming and they were so comfortable that I didn't even have to take my shoes off at the dance! I know I'm going to get so much wear out of these, especially this holiday season!

Lemon Water
Recently I've been putting a few slices of lemon into my water bottle before leaving for school and I find that I'm drinking a lot more water than usual. Not only is it good for your complexion but it also adds a hint of flavor to the water so if you aren't a huge fan of water like I am, maybe adding a few lemon slices may help!

Senior Year Quarter 1 Recap

The first quarter of my senior year is officially behind me and boy oh boy was it a whirlwind of excitement. A lot happened in the first nine weeks of the school year & today I'm going to recapping a few things that took place during the first quarter.

On the first day of school I wore the most comfortable pair of light wash jeans, my favorite pair of brown leather sandals & this super soft and flowy tank top.

Being my senior year I went to every Friday night football I could because I know that I'm going to miss cheering in the student section next year. I always love dressing for the themes every week and participating in the halftime stunts performed by our student section. The photos above were taken with my friends Lizzie & Emily at the white-out game & the neon game. During the neon game our student section did a powder toss where we all tossed blue powder into the air and as a result, we're covered in blue for the next three days!

I talked about it more in yesterdays post but I attended my senior homecoming in early October. My mom snapped this photo of me and my puppy, Callie, before I left to head over to my friends house for pictures & it just might be my favorite candid photo she's ever taken of me!

Sunday's were typically the only day of the week that I didn't have any team golf practices or tournaments so I took advantage of my days off to grab brunch with friends before I would head home to finish my homework. Now that golf season is over, I'm hoping to be able to find some new brunch spots around town with my friends.

Senior year has meant a lot of iced coffee runs in order to make sure I have energy to finish homework & to complete all my college applications on time. On days when I don't have time to stop and pick up and iced coffee you can bet I've had made a cup of coffee using my favorite Starbucks K-Cups for our Keurig.

How has your school year been so far?

Where I've Been

Boy oh boy has life been crazy recently. With the chaos of senior year, golf season & college applications I've had a hard time finding time to sit down, let alone sit down and write a blog post. It's never my intention to put the blog on the back burner for this long but sometimes life happens and you just have to live with it.

My senior golf season officially ended yesterday which as sad it is to know that I am done with high school sports, I'm excited to be back to my regular blogging routine. My senior golf season was UNBELIEVABLE. My team and I performed extremely well, winning our conference championship and making it the state tournament for the first time in seven years! I served as one of the Varsity team captains this year and loved being able to mentor the younger girls throughout the season. My teammates and I grew extremely close during season and I know that we will continue to grow closer even out of season.

Rewind back to the summer where I spent a few days traveling down to South Carolina to look at several colleges. At the every beginning of the summer my mom and I traveled down and looked at a bunch of schools but one school that really stood out to me was Clemson University. I had never even thought to consider Clemson but the moment I stepped on the campus I fell in love. Although Clemson isn't a very big town, it still had the feel I was looking for as well as the southern charm I wanted. My dad and I went back to Clemson in July for an official visit to the school where I fell even more in love with the school. Needless to say Clemson was the first application I submitted and I am anxiously waiting for (hopefully!) an acceptance letter!

Fast forward back to October where I attended my final homecoming dance. I hadn't gone to a dance since my freshman year homecoming but I'm so happy that my friends convinced me to go. I went with a group of really good friends & had such a good time! At the dance I was able to find two of my teammates, Lizzie & Emily, and we took a picture that easily is my favorite picture of the night.

I wore a simple black lace dress and a pair of black heels and both were so comfortable and I got lots of compliments on both!

Now that all of my college applications are in I feel like I can finally breathe and relax a little bit. I actually just received my first acceptance letter yesterday! I'm going to wait until I've heard back from all my schools before announcing where I applied & where I'll be attending! :)

I'm Back

Boy oh boy has life been crazy. With senior year beginning next week (!!!!!) I've been oh so busy running around town preparing for my final year of high school.

At the beginning of the summer I really hoped to focus a lot on blogging and get new content up daily for y'all to see but life happened and I easily had the busiest summer I've ever had. From touring colleges at the beginning of the summer to taking my senior pictures and preparing for my senior golf season I've had so little down time to sit and write a post for y'all.  While I'm bummed about not posting a lot this summer I'm oh so happy to be back and am ready to share my senior year with you!

Although I don't like to go long periods of time without posting, it was surprisingly nice to not be constantly worrying about scheduling a post or finding a time to shoot outfits. I've always told myself "quality over quantity" meaning that I'd rather share a well put-together post than one that I quickly put together just to have something going up that day. It was nice to take a break and now I'm so happy to be back and ready to be sharing new content that I'm proud to be writing.

How was your summer?

My Favorite Casual Dress

Recently whenever I'm running late and don't have time to put together an entire outfit I'll just throw on a simple, casual dress. Yesterday morning two of my friends & I had planned to go out for brunch at 9am. Of course I slept in until around 8:30 and only had a few minutes to get ready before I was being picked up. This blue dress is SO comfortable! It's made from spandx material so it's super soft and stretchy. I've found myself throwing this dress on whether I'm running into work for an hour or so or even heading out to brunch with my friends.

Pastel Pink

One trend that I don't where very often but wish I did is white pants. I paired this gorgeous silk, pastel pink top with some white pants & my favorite wedges and my go-to gold jewelry and absolutely love the overall look! I know that I'll definitely be wearing this outfit again but in case I don't want to wear wedges with the look, I also styled it with my pink & white Palm Beach Sandals.

I love the combination of the white and the light pink, I think it's perfect for summer! I know I will be wearing white pants a lot more often as well as this pink top!

Navy Shorts & Floral Headbands

On days when I'm wanting something casual and comfy but a little bit nicer than athletic shorts & a t-shirt I love to throw on a pair of solid colored shorts and a white t-shirt. I've had these navy shorts in my closet for a few years now and love them! They're so soft and comfortable and can be dressed up or down. I threw on this simple white t-shirt from Loft and added a touch of pattern to this outfit by putting on a floral headband that I've had in my room for years and never had a change to wear.

This outfit is perfect for running errands or going out to grab lunch with friends. The solid colored shorts and the white t-shirt allow for you to wear statement accessories such as some fun earrings or colorful bracelets.
